Assistant (IQ) Overview

Use the SurfaceIQ Assistant to create projects, measure, build estimates, and send proposals by chat.

What IQ is

IQ is the built-in SurfaceIQ assistant. It helps you do your work through a conversation, and it can pull tools into the workflow when needed (like map measurement).

Where to find it

  1. Go to Dashboard.
  2. Click Assistant in the left sidebar.

What you can do in IQ

  • Create customers, properties, and projects.
  • Resolve addresses so the map can center correctly.
  • Open a map measurement workspace to draw asphalt area on a satellite map.
  • Create estimates and line items.
  • Create and send proposals.
  • Create schedules, invoices, and more.

How it works

  • As you answer questions, IQ saves what you provided to SurfaceIQ.
  • If something is required (like a project name or site address), IQ will ask for it.
  • For locations, you can usually provide either a full street address or a business name plus city/state. If IQ cannot resolve it confidently, it will ask for a more specific address.
  • IQ will not invent customer contact details. If you do not provide an email or phone number, those fields stay blank.

Tool actions in chat

When IQ runs an action, you will see a small status line in the chat (for example: "Resolved address" or "Opened map measurement"). This is normal and indicates the system did something on your behalf.

When to use the regular pages

IQ is the fastest way to create and move a job forward, but the regular pages are still important:

  • Use Projects to review a job and edit fields.
  • Use Estimate Builder to review and adjust versions.
  • Use Quotes/Proposals to resend or copy links.

Permissions

If your account role is view-only, you can still ask IQ questions, but you may not be able to create or update records.
